Herstory:
Pioneering Women in Media

Communications 345
Aja Dykes & Nicki Reich

One interpretation of history is that it is “his”story, with change being driven by “great men and their accomplishments”. Herstory is a creative project for COMM345 History of Communication presented with a female-centric lens.

We have chosen to feature six great women in Canadian history from the 1800s to today. Each one has effectively used the communication technology of her era to spread a message of social change.

These are diverse, powerful, and inspiring women and their messages of equality and inclusion have made a lasting impact. As Canadian women, and professional communicators, we hope to follow in their footsteps.
